Two events that should interest many Italian Americans will be held at the UNLV campus in the third week of October.

Two events that should interest many Italian Americans will be held at the UNLV campus in the third week of October.

Professor Guiseppe Natale, Coordinator of Italian Studies at UNLV, will show the film, Prisoners in paradise on Monday, October 22 at 7:30pm in the theater (room 113) located in the Student Union. The film deals with the experiences, overwhelming positive, of the Italian POWs who were held in the United States during WW11. Professor Natale and others including Professor Alan Balboni of the college of Southern Naveda will comment about the experiences of the Italian POWs, with some attention to the relevance of the experience to current issues.

On Wednesda, October 24th, Italian born Professor Ben Lawton, Chairman of both the Italian studies and the Film Studies Departments at Purdue University will discuse the stereotyping of Italian Americans in the America Media in the auditorium of the Barrick Museum, located on the UNLV campus at 7:30pm. Professor Lawton will solicit questions from the audience following his presentation. Parking is free and perhaps, equally important, parking regulations are not enforced after 7pm.
